Americans for Tax Reform Commends Congressional Candidate
Arlington, Virginia – On April 2, Amit Singh, Congressional candidate for Virginia’s 8th District, signed the "Taxpayer Protection Pledge" which promotes the commitment of American leaders to "fiscal responsibility and pro-growth economic policies." The pledge is organized by Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform.
"As our tax system gets increasingly complicated and federal spending spirals out of control, it is important our leaders take real steps to lessen the burden on all Americans and allow them to provide for their families," said Singh. "I’ve publicly stated my campaign is dedicated to restoring fiscal responsibility to government, and this allows voters in Northern Virginia to see I intend to be faithful to that promise.
"Americans, now more than ever, need leaders committed to fiscal responsibility and pro-growth economic policies," said Norquist. "By signing the Pledge, Mr. Singh demonstrates his allegiance to hard-working taxpayers nationwide, as well as dedication to taxpayers in Virginia. I applaud him for his leadership and dedication to the ideals of limited government."
The "Taxpayer Protection Pledge" has been promoted as a movement which has bi-partisan support and can reach across party lines. The pledge reflects a commitment to "oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses... and oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates." Candidates and legislators from all over the nation have been encouraged to examine the pledge since 1986. Information on the pledge can be found at www.atr.org.
Amit Singh will also be participating in a debate for 8th District Congressional candidates at George Mason University on Tuesday, April 15, at 6pm. The debate is sponsored by the George Mason University College Republicans.
